Purpose and Scope of Job:

Primarily responsible for supervising inventory management and production planning processes to achieve target inventory turns, production output and delivery performance.

Essential Functions (other duties may be assigned):

• Supervise all aspects of SMA’s materials management policies, objectives, and initiatives.
• Supervise Material Planners to ensure adequate inventory of materials and products in accord with inventory cycles and organizational philosophy.
• Manage the monthly production volume and for various assembly/production lines.
• Establish inventory replenishment policies and direct all the planners to achieve target inventory turns.
• Ensure proper controls within the inventory control system and its interfacing programs.
• Manage the Sales and operations planning process to balance supply with demand.
• Manage the slow move/obsolete inventory reduction process.
• Apply industry best practices and forecasting/planning experience to all processes.
• Act as an effective and positive change agent, to recommend, and as appropriate, lead the implementation of such methodologies within the organization.
• Maintain a variety of schedules, records, and reports pertaining the tracking of materials through the production cycle and availability of production resources.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelors Degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Decisions Sciences, or equivalent experience
• Five (5) years of experience in inventory management, supply chain planning, material planning, purchasing, or operations experience.
• Two (2) years of experience managing materials planning teams.
• Working knowledge of supply chain software.
• Must be proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Access)
• Excellent analytical, written and verbal communication, negotiation, and technical skills.
• Association for Supply Management (ACSM, formerly APICS) CPIM or CSCP certification is required. If neither certification is held, candidate will have one (1) year to obtain CPIM certification upon acceptance of position.
• Six Sigma certification is preferred.
