Senior Power System Analyst

Sumitomo SHI FW (SFW) is leading the energy transition by transforming itself from its position as world leader in CFB technology towards taking a leadership position in decarbonizing industry and energy sectors. As part of this journey, we are broadening our business offering with Carbon Capture, Waste-to-Value and Energy Storage solutions. To support this strategic transition, we are now looking for a Senior Power System Analyst to strengthen our Energy Storage Business team.

You will support the team by conducting in-depth power system modelling of national grids and detailed business case modelling as well as developing new value propositions for our Liquid Air Energy Storage (LAES). Your responsibilities
You will work closely with your front-line Market and Business Development colleagues engaging in customer dialogues and support driving sales cases.
You will be primarily responsible for:
• Conducting power system modelling using the modelling software SAInt to create market level value propositions, materials, and business proposals to target customers
• Conducting high level feasibility studies to assess project viability
• Actively improve our way of modelling and find new approaches to value quantification
Additional responsibility areas:
• Active participation in front-line customer dialogues
• Support the organization with market and competitor analysis
• Prepare presentation material to support building business cases for our Liquid Air Energy Storage (LAES) solutions and thought leadership

Your qualifications
As a successful candidate you hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Energy, Energy Management, Engineering, Economics or other relevant field. To succeed in this role, you should have
• 2-5 years of experience in similar field, preferably related to dynamic modelling
• A positive and proactive mindset as well as demonstrate ownership and responsibility of driving your own work
• Excellent analytical skills and understanding of energy markets and power systems
• Understanding of project finance is considered an asset
• Willingness to learn and take initiative
• Good communication and interpersonal skills
• Willingness to travel
• Previous experience with power system modelling software’s such as SAInt, PLEXOS PowerFactory or PSS/E will be considered an advantage
• Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills
• Experience in Python is considered an advantage
• Fluent in English. Other languages are considered assets
